Newcastle United 2023/2024

Newcastle United was founded in 1881 as Stanley football club. In 1882, the name was changed to Newcastle East End, and eventually in 1892 the club got the name it still bears: Newcastle United.

The rich club plays its home games in the mighty St. James' Park which offers 52 405 spectators. The supporters of The Magpies have some tough years behind them with two relegations to the Championship, but both times the club managed to return to the highest level within a year.

On October 8, 2021, it was announced that the club will be owned by the Public Investment Fund from Saudi Arabia. That fund is in the hands of the controversial Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, which led to a lot of controversy.

Coach Steve Bruce was fired and his successor Eddie Howe easily kept the club in the Premier League. Last season, the first signs of Newcastle United's future became apparent. The club performed excellently and eventually finished fourth, meaning it will play the Champions League next season.

In its history, Newcastle United became champions of England four times, won the FA Cup six times and the Charity Shield once. Well-known players of the current team are the Brazilian international Bruno Guimarães, Kieran Tripier and Alexander Isak.
