The 2024/25 season was a special one for the Amsterdam side. At the start, no one expected Ajax to challenge for the national title. However, under manager Francesco Farioli, it happened. Ajax squandered a comfortable lead over PSV and ultimately finished second. As a result, the Amsterdam side are now playing in the Champions League this season. This season, John Heitinga is the head coach.
