Manchester City was founded in 1880 under the name West Gorton Saint Marks. In 1887 the name of the club changed to Ardwick FC, after which it eventually became Manchester City in 1894. The Cityzens play their home games in the beautiful Etihad Stadium which seats 55 097 spectators.
Pep Guardiola's team had a very disappointing season. The Community Shield was the only trophy they won. With stars like Erling Haaland, Rodri and Phil Foden, City hopes to be a serious contender for major trophies again next season.
During its existence, Manchester City won the European Cup II (1970) once, nine national titles, the FA Cup seven times, the League Cup eight times and the Community Shield seven times.
