Hertha Berlin was founded in 1892 and is therefore one of the oldest clubs in Germany. The club plays its home games in the immense Olympia Stadium, where 74 475 spectators fit into it.
Hertha has been playing in Germany's second tier for two seasons. Die Alte Dame had a poor season, finishing eleventh. Stefan Leitl will be in charge of the team next season. His task is to bring the club from the German capital back to the top flight as quickly as possible.
Hertha became champions of Germany twice and won the German Cup once.
