Eintracht Frankfurt was founded in 1920 after a merger of various clubs. Since 1925 the club has been playing its home games in the Waldstadion. This stadium was almost completely renovated for the 2006 World Cup and has been called the Commerzbank-Arena ever since. It can accommodate 51 500 spectators.
Eintracht was one time champion in 1959 and won the UEFA Cup in 1980. Five times the DFB Cup was seized.
After a great 2018/2019, it became a lot more difficult for the team of trainer Adolf Hutter in the new season. During the winter break, Eintracht Frankfurt could not even be found in the left row of the ranking. However, some excellent results were achieved against the top teams. In the end, the team finished in ninth place.
In the Europa League it went reasonably well. In a group with Arsenal, among others, the Germans finished second, so they were also active in this tournament after the winter break. However, FC Basel turned out to be much too strong in the knockout phase.
Visiting a home match of the Adlerträger is recommended. The star players are Andre Silva, Filip Kostic and Daichi Kamada.
